Ronald McDonald House Charities
keeping families close
Families are stronger when they are together and their presence helps a sick child cope better. Research even proves that while we cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatment, we can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to support their child’s recovery.
The mission of RMHC® of Greater Las Vegas is to provide a supportive “home away from home” for families and children who are receiving inpatient or outpatient medical treatment at local hospitals. Without the Ronald McDonald House, families might have to sleep in a hospital chair or even in their cars, as most families cannot afford a hotel room for weeks or sometimes months – especially under the financial stress of mounting medical bills. Through our programs, we support the family- centered care of children to ensure their family members can fully focus on the recovery of their child.
Since opening in July of 1998, the House has served more than 5,566 families for more than 68,659 nights. In 2021, the House served 278 adults and 93 children for more than 2,680 nights. The average length of stay was 13 days, and the House saved families $368,288 in lodging costs.
Accommodations
Our House was designed specially to accommodate up to 12 families at one time, for a total of 72 family members. Each guest room includes two double beds, private bathroom, TV and telephone. Families will also find a fully stocked pantry, a non-coin operated laundry facility with detergent and fabric softener, a fun-filled game room for kids to play in, an outdoor patio area with a BBQ grill, and ample seating as well as toys and games for the kids.
When you’re here, you’re family…so we ask that you help keep the House neat and clean during your stay.
After a long, stressful day at the hospital, join us at the House for a wonderful home cooked meal provided by volunteers. Dinner is ready by 6 pm each night and is served buffet style.
Who is eligible to stay?
Any family whose pediatric child (21 years or younger) is receiving medical treatment (inpatient or outpatient) may request a room at Ronald McDonald House. All families must be referred by a doctor, nurse, social worker or other medical source who can verify patient information. Families who live 30 miles or more outside of the Greater Las Vegas area are eligible to stay.
Room Donation
It costs $150 a night per family to operate the Ronald McDonald House program. To support ongoing operations, we encourage, but do not require, guests to make a donation of $10, or whatever amount they are able, in order to continue operations for future guests. However, no family is ever turned away due to the inability to contribute.
